Kelly Sugar Bee Walker Student Hive Open for Business

To celebrate Kelly Walker's advocacy, leadership, and dedication to student wellness at Colorado State University, the Kelly "Sugar Bee" Walker Student Hive was created. In the Student Hive, students can rest, recharge, and focus on their wellness and health. The Student Hive is located on the second floor of the Moby Arena, right across from Kelly's former office in the Department of Health and Exercise Science.

The Hive was officially opened in November 2023 with many of Kelly's family and friends joining in the celebration. Thank you to CSU for creating this very special space and to all of the donors whose generosity helped make it a reality. Read more about this special event here.

Kelly Walker (B.S., '88; M.S., '91, '02) was an instructor in the Department of Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University and served as the fieldwork coordinator for health promotion and sports medicine. She worked tirelessly for students until her early retirement due to her multiple sclerosis diagnosis. After retiring, Kelly continued to support and invest in students by becoming a scholarship donor. On May 3, 2022, Kelly passed away with her family by her side.

To celebrate Kelly's advocacy, leadership, and dedication to student wellness at Colorado State University, the Kelly Walker Student Hive has been created. In the Student Hive, students can rest, recharge, and focus on their wellness and health. In Memory of Kelly Sugar Bee Walker

It is with heavy hearts we must tell you that Kelly Ann Walker, our beloved Sugar Bee, passed away peacefully in her home on May 3, 2022, surrounded by her family and her dog, Alice. We are grateful for all your love, support and commitment to Kelly and for Team Sugar Bee over these many years. It meant the world to Kelly and the entire Walker family.

We will continue to ride for Kelly and for everyone else with MS, and we will continue to fight for a cure for this disease in her memory. We already miss her so much, but she continues to inspire us.

Details for Kelly’s Memorial Service on July 23, 2022 are included at the end of the obituary, as well as where contributions can be made for those who would like to honor Kelly and her indefatigable spirit and irrepressible joy. We love you Sugar Bee!
